The Louisiana Bulldogs Varsity Softball team beat Clopton 6-2 on Monday, behind Molly Ross, who went 3-3 at the plate.  Ross doubled in the first inning and singled in the third and fifth innings.

Kaitlyn VanHooser kept contact to a minimum, striking out six  Clopton batters.  Over seven innings of play, Kaitlyn allowed no earned runs, on seven hits and two walks.

The last lead of the game went to Louisiana, thanks to a first inning rally that saw one run cross the plate on an RBI double by Caitlin Bolton.

After pushing across two runs in the bottom of the fourth, Clopton faced just a 4-2 deficit.   An error and an RBI single by Smith gave Clopton life.  Finally, VanHooser got Stewart to ground out to end the threat.

The Bulldogs scored one run in the fifth  inning and then  followed it up with one more in the sixth.  In the fifth, Louisiana scored on a sacrifice fly by Bolton, scoring Ross.  The Bulldogs will host Monroe City tonight at Wallace Memorial Park.  There will be a ceremony to honor the seniors at the conclusion of the JV game.
